Our Revolution of Bergen County continued the effort to educate Bergen residents on how to run for County Committee on March 13th, 19th, and 20th. Representatives from Ramsey Pins and Glen Rock After the March, progressive organizations based in Ramsey and Glen Rock respectively, had attended the workshops. Additionally, Tenafly Council President Mark Zinna spoke about his experiences running for governor in this past election in 2017, revealing his immense challenges in obtaining the support from the "party machine". Mark provided an anecdote on a conversation with a chairperson of one of the southern counties in NJ. He learned, to our equal astonishment, that the county chairperson can bypass the decision of the county committee for candidate nominations. We learned that this was probably due to the lack of engagement in the county committee people and thus giving power to the county chairperson. To this end, we are encouraged that many people are seeking to transform such unethical uses of democratic platforms.
